Welcome to Cub Scouts and Pack 254! I consider it an honor in having your son and family join, our Pack in Mays Landing. Our Pack is a growing pack with a solid scouting based program. It is the desire of all the Pack leadership to provide the highest quality scouting experience for your son and a solid family oriented program your whole family can enjoy. The Cub Scouts are part of the Boy Scouts of America, and have a long tradition of providing lots of fun activities for young boys. In Pack 254, we believe Cub Scouting is fun, but fun with a purpose.

2008 SUMMERTIME EVENTS

PLEASE KEEP IN MIND ALL EVENTS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE. AS EACH EVENT GETS CLOSER YOU WILL BE NOTIFIED OF TIMES, COST AND WERE WE’RE MEETING.

August 5^rd-- National Night Out

Pack 254 has been asked to do the opening Flag Salute. We also participate in the parade that goes from the back of the woodlands to the Club House. Arrive at Jasmine Court at 5:15pm in Class B uniform (Pack T-Shirt). Tiffany Sollog is the leader in charge so please email her at tdsollog@yahoo.com to let her know you're going.

August 3^rd-6th- Webelos Adventure Camp 

Leader in Charge- John Henry & Caryn Dodson

 Our Webelos I & II dens are encouraged to go to Citta for 4 days to enjoy the Camping and all the activities they have to offer. Webelos will also have the Chance to earn badges that are required for your Arrow of Light. The fee is $150 before June 1^st, and $175 after that. Register early please with Dominic.

 August 7^th-9th- 4H Fair in Egg Harbor City

 Our Pack has a table we set up each each year to help generate the interest in scouting. We not only sign up scouts for our Pack, we send names to other Packs in the area for kids closer to them.

 August 24th- Pack Day BBQ

 We end the summer season with our traditional BBQ. It will be at Estell Manor. TBA.

Note: Your scout MUST attend at least three summertime activities in order to qualify for the BSA Summertime Achievement Pin.  

Pack 254 is always looking for ideas from the Parents. Whenever our Pack has leaders meetings, please feel free to come and give your input. We have lots of ideas for the upcoming year and we want your opinion.

Our big trip for 2008-2009 scout year will be Washington DC . I’ve already been in contact with someone from Congressmen LoBiondo’s office about a tour of the Capital building. The big thing with this trip is I would like to raise enough money to charter Buses down there and find hotels that are not expensive. The Committee is looking to go down there in early April so we can see the Cherry Blossoms in full bloom. That could change based on Hotel fees or Bus scheduling.

KEEP IN MIND THE MORE MONEY WE RAISE THE MORE MONEY WE HAVE TO CHARTER A BUS. I WOULD LOVE TO SEE US TRAVEL IN COMFORT INSTEAD OF DRIVING DOWN THERE.

CONGRATS TO OUR 8 WEBELOS SCOUTS WHO PARTICIPATED IN THE KLONDIKE DERBY AT EGG HARBOR CITY ON JANUARY 12TH. FOUR BOYS STAYED OVERNIGHT WITH TROOP 254 AND GOT TO ENJOY THE NIGHT WITH THE BOYS AND GET A PREVIEW OF WHAT BEING A BOY SCOUT IS ABOUT.

OUR BOYS WORKED SO HARD IN THE COLD AND NEVER COMPLAINED. JOHNNIE, DOMINIC, JOEY, WILLIAM, ETHAN, SEAN, ALEX AND KYLE WORKED TOGETHER ON MANY TASKS SUCH AS KNOTS, BB SHOOTING, ARCHERY, FIRST AID, FIRE STARTING AND A CONFIDENCE COURSE. ALL THERE HAD WORKED PAID OFF AND THEY EARNED 83 POINTS OUT OF A POSSIBLE 100 POINTS.

I KNOW I CAN SPEAK FOR THE PACK WHEN I SAY WE'RE PROUD OF EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU AND WE LOOK FORWARD TO NEXT YEARS DERBY....WE WILL BE BACK!!!

   PINEWOOD DERBY

That was our best Pinewood Derby ever. Once again Pack 254 came out looking like the model Pack for the Atlantic District. Our Scouts were well-behaved and so into the race.
